The American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA), a non-profit overseas research institution, is seeking a qualified individual to work as the Database Administrator in the Athenian Agora, Stoa of Attalos, Greece. The position is full time. 

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications: Degree in archaeology or related field, excavation experience and experience in using digital tools essential, as well as knowledge of Greece and fluency in English and Greek. The successful applicant should be someone with attention to detail and collaborative abilities. Required software knowledge includes: FileMaker Pro, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, Annotate Pro, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Knowledge of iDig would be useful. Applicants should also list other software knowledge/use and related skills (geospatial modeling skills using drone or photogrammetry a plus). 

Duties: Maintain the accuracy, organization, and accessibility of the Agora digital archives. Specific duties include the following. Verify metadata for excavation photographs and ensure they are properly linked to the Agora database and website. Process and upload files generated during the excavation season, including end of season photographs, aerial and ortho photographs, photogrammetry files, volunteer portraits, Director’s photographs, and all excavation plans and reports. Complete excavation notebooks with photographs selected by the supervisors, as well as scan and annotate all notebooks used during excavation. Process and upload object photographs taken of new finds and for photographic orders. Enter bibliographic references for published material into the database. Organize and integrate digital files from various earlier projects into the database. Assist with various office duties as needed.

It is preferable for recommenders to submit their letters following the instructions in the automated email. All recommendations are confidential and will not be shared with an applicant.

The deadline for applications is August 19, 2024. Candidates will be interviewed in late August/early September, and the successful applicant will begin their duties on October 1, 2024.
